The prints and digital files produced may be protected by copyright law (Title 17, U.S. Code) and are for educational purposes only. The Art Institute of Chicago does not transfer any reproduction rights and assumes no responsibility for the violation of copyright.

Image Reproduction Policies and Procedures


AVAILABLE FORMATS AND SPECIFICATIONS:

TIFF file300dpi minimum (some are higher res);
24-bit color or 16-bit grayscale
JPEG file1056 pixels at their maximum dimension
Digital print Printed from the master TIFF file

IMAGE LICENSING FEES:
The Art Institute does not grant world rights. Our contracts grant permission to reproduce only the image(s) specified in the contract for only one edition or instance of use; any and all future uses will necessitate additional contracts and accompanying fees.

Additionally, as stated in the contract: "In addition to permission from the Museum, permission of the copyright owner (if not the Museum) and/or any holder of other rights (such as publicity and/or privacy rights) may be required for reproduction, publication, distribution, and other uses. Responsibility for making an independent legal assessment of the copyright for the IMAGE/S and securing any necessary permissions rests with the Company desiring to publish the IMAGE/S. The Museum is not responsible for determining or paying other fees that may be due to such copyright owners."

CONFIRMATION AND DELIVERY:
We will confirm your order request and/or payment within 3 business days of its receipt. Please allow 10 business days after payment for completion of the order. We do not have the ability to email TIFF files; these may be mailed or uploaded to a user's FTP site (contact us for additional information regarding FTP delivery). Lower quality JPEGs--used primarily for web publishing or study purposes--may be emailed, mailed or delivered via FTP.
