ANNOUNCEMENTS A message from Gustavo Paredes, RSG's new Gallery Co-Director & Development Specialist As Randolph Street Gallery begins its seventeenth year of programming I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new co- director/director of development. I am excited to become part of one of the most outstanding contemporary art centers in the United States. As a media artist and arts administrator for over fifteen years, I have remained steadfast in realizing the importance of the artist in the development of society and their ability to connect art to the culture of the community. During my period of introduction to RSG, I have recognized, that we are presented with the challenge of continuing to create a vision that can reflect the cultural diversity of the artists, traditions, and the communities of Chicago and this country. I plan to inject a fresh perspective and energy to the mission and goals of Randolph Street Gallery. As the Organization evolves to serve our members more effectively, create new programming initiatives and secure our financial foundation, we will continue to maintain the artistic standards that have made Randolph Street Gallery great. We will also challenge our present and past members to support us in new and creative ways as we build for our future. Welcome Laurie Kerlin! RSG is pleased to announce that Laurie Kerlin joined the staff in August in the position of Business/Operations Manager. Laurie is a graduate of S.A.I.C. and was most recently employed by Ann Nathan Gallery. Chicago SoundScape Project Sunday, September 22, 2 pm at RSG, $5 Experimental Sound Studio (ESS) proudly presents the premier listening of the Chicago Soundscape Project (CPS), ESS's collaborative audio art project in corporating a number of community groups, artists, and individuals from Chicago and Germany. Over the past year, eight groups created and produced sonic self- portraits of their communities, including underground at O'Hare Airport, City Hall, Acme Steel, Prologue High School, and Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center. These community self-portraits have been combined into a one-hour audio work by Chicago artist Lou Mallozzi and German media and soundscape artist Hans Werner. On Sunday, September 22, the Chicago Soundscape Project will be played for the first time in public. Mr. Mallozzi, Mr. Werner and the 30 individuals and artists who contributed to CSP will be present for discussion and questions.
