Biographical Note
Born in Highland Park , Illinois , to immigrant parents , Morris Barazani (1924-2015) began developing his artistic talents in high school . He enlisted in the armed forces during the Second World War , and attended art school on the G.I . Bill – first at the Institute of Design in Chicago , and later at Cranbrook Academy in Detroit , where he ran Circle Gallery . Barazani moved back to Chicago in 1952 , where he became a member of Exhibit A Gallery . Whereas his early art was influenced by the Bauhaus style , during the 1950s he transitioned into abstract expressionism , which put him at odds with the figural trend in Chicago .
